FAQ's:
Q. How are estimates done?
A. We do estimates based upon what the majority of our customers want. We include cleaning the windows inside and out, cleaning any screens and wiping the windows sills. We are happy to include anything else you would like upon request. Estimates are based on many factors. Every home in the bay area is different so every estimate will also be different, but here are some of the biggest factors:
1. Number of windows.
2. Type of windows. Divided light, french panes, lead glass and oversized windows will cost more than a standard double hung window.
3. Height of your home.
4. Accessibility of windows. e.g. your home is on a sloped lot or there are trees or rose bushes in front of your windows.
5. Excessive paint or glue on the windows.
Q. How accurate are the estimates?
A. We try to be as accurate as we can with our estimates, but we may not see everything. If you have a window inside that is especially difficult, skylights, interior doors or windows that you want done, just let us know. The most common thing we find is excessive paint or glue from stickers. Both of these add a lot of time to the job and are difficult to see when doing the estimate. If there is anything you think might affect our estimate, point it out to us and we will include it.
Q. Do you wash the windows on both the inside and out?
A. Yes, we recommend washing the windows on both the inside and outside at the same time. The inside of the window is often as dirty as the outside. We also try to work across from each other, with one washer inside and one outside so that nothing is missed.
Q. How many times a year do you recommend washing the windows?
A. 2 to 4 times per year. Window washing is as important for maintaining your windows as it is for aesthetic reasons. The longer hard water and minerals stay on your windows, the more likely water spots will etch themselves into your windows. We have found that several main sources are old metal screens and sprinklers. As the metal corrodes, it is carried by rain or sprinklers onto the windows where it begins to damage the windows. We recommend a minimum of two times a year, once in spring-summer, and once as winter approaches. Cleaning the windows later in the season will keep them much cleaner all year long as well as keep the rain from sticking to the window. This will help to prevent damage to your windows.
Q. Do you clean the window tracks?
A. We will clean them upon request. Cleaning the tracks can take a lot time. We have found the majority of our customers would rather save money and do this themselves.
Q. Why is my double pane window fogged?
A. We have noticed on many occasions that the seal on double pane windows has broken. This often happens when a window is in direct exposure to the sun. Moisture then gets trapped between the panes and causes a fogging of the window. Unfortunately we can't fix or clean the insides of those windows and most often they need to be replaced.
Q. Do we clean skylights?
A. We clean skylights based on accessibility. They are not included in the estimate unless requested. We generally do not walk on tile roofs due to their fragile nature.
Q. What kind of window cleaning solution do we use?
A. We use non-toxic, environmentally friendly, and UV film safe cleaning solution. Unlike other companies that use too much solution, resulting in streaking and unsightly residue, we mix small proportions of solution with water. Our attention to detail and hard work produces a quality of window cleaning not achieved by so called magic cleaning solutions.
